What the Heck is Holistic Marketing?
Consider an orchestra. Every instrument has a distinct sound, yet together they harmonize to create beautiful music, a rewarding outcome. Similarly, Holistic Marketing is a comprehensive approach that coordinates and integrates various elements, each also with its own unique purpose, to craft a successful and impactful symphony – or marketing strategy.
Every marketing element is like a note contributing to the grand plan.
Just as it doesn’t make sense to aimlessly toot your own horn, it’s equally illogical to start posting on social media without a clear purpose. For example, wouldn’t it be more sensible to establish follow-up and follow-through procedures before launching an email campaign?
Seems so simple, doesn’t it?
Yet, everyday small businesses approach their marketing and social media strategy with no clear plan or purpose.
No direction, just publishing content all willy-nilly.
It’s like tossing a handful of confetti up into the air and expecting that every single *confetto falls into place on the ground to form a likeness of the Mona Lisa.
*Confetto. That’s right, it’s the singular of confetti. Now you know.
STORYTIME: Back in high school, my principal told me I should go into advertising. She was a cultured and well-educated woman who always called it just like she saw it. In those days I didn’t even know (or care) what “marketing” meant.
Frankly, I blew it off and went on to pursue my own adventurous path.
But at every turn in my career, the signs always pointed in the same direction.
Eventually I decided to follow the signs.
When I was new in the game, marketing seemed to be INDEPENDENT of the other departments. Especially for a small business, it was something you would “add on” after you accumulated a little extra in the black. Once I launched my own company, I realized that THAT approach is flawed and has more holes than a block of Swiss cheese.

I started paying close attention and noted a theme:
The best results come when the whole business is considered before building a marketing strategy.
HOLISTIC MARKETING encircles the branding, the processes, the customer journey, the follow-up… all of that and even more.
Think about it, if your company’s foundational pillars are not strong and healthy, do you think a few social media posts and videos will SAVE it?
Marketing is not something you can just “bolt on” haphazardly and without intention.
If that’s what you’re doing, stop wasting your time and money.
It’s taken me a few years to realize that my time in operations and client experience turned out to be the secret weapon in our approach.
Especially in today’s digital landscape, ensuring everything works together is vital to create a strong and consistent brand that customers can easily recognize.
That means taking a close look at your brand from every touchpoint:

🔸 Social media platforms
🔸 Google business page
🔸 Online review sites
🔸 Email marketing
🔸 Blogs and other content platforms
🔸 E-commerce platforms
🔸 Podcasts
🔸 Online advertising platforms
🔸 Online forums and communities
❓ If you consider your own business on a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your brand consistency when it comes to your digital footprint?
Anything less than a 9 should be addressed BEFORE starting a social media marketing campaign.
Don’t ruin your market by hurrying to “get stuff out there.”
Do it right. And do it in the right order.
